Over recent years, we have made some enhancements to our Confirmation Program to integrate it into our Youth Ministry Program so your teens have the chance to become an active member of our Youth Ministry Community. Confirmation is a parish Sacrament. Therefore, even if your child goes to Catholic school, preparation happens in the parish. Our Confirmation program follows our Junior High program, and is a two-year Sacramental Preparation Process, which puts us in line with Archdiocesan guidelines. First-year Confirmation Candidates (usually Freshmen) will be required to participate in a number of Youth Ministry events before finalizing their formal Confirmation process and receiving the Sacrament in their Sophomore year.
Please keep in mind that in order to have a successful and meaningful Confirmation process, a Candidate should already be showing signs of interest by trying to live a life according to that modeled by Jesus. They should have a fundamental knowledge of our Catholic Christian teachings, and they should have completed their religious education and/or family faith formation program or parochial school through 8th grade. In addition, they should be attending mass regularly, and be actively involved in the life of our Church Community.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually celebrated in May, and is subject to the Bishop's schedule.
