Haiti Medical Mission

In 2002 the Church of the Presentation founded the Haiti Medical Mission.   This ministry grew out of a parish twinning relationship between our parish and a parish in Haiti.   The people of the parish in Haiti identified medical care as their biggest need.  This ministry begin by sending teams of volunteers to provide free medical care in the parish community center in Haiti.  Over a thousand people would come each week to receive medical care and medications from US doctors and nurses.  But our Presentation Haiti Medical Mission was destined to grow to become much much more.

In 2005 the leaders of the Haiti Medical Mission along with Presentation’s pastor at the time, Fr. Tom Ivory, incorporated our mission as a separate 501(c)(3) charitable organization known today as NOVA Hope for Haiti.  From the beginning the core volunteers of our mission had a dream of building a permanent clinic in Haiti.  Haiti is not an easy place to volunteer nor an easy place to work to build a clinic.  But through the dedication of our volunteers and the support of our Presentation community, NOVA built a permanent clinic in 2014.  Our parish mission which started by providing care during one-week medical missions grew to have a clinic staffed with two doctors, nurses, lab technicians and pharmacists opened 52 weeks of the year to provide primary medical care to the people of Cavaillon and the surrounding area.

We are still committed to sending volunteer teams down to work with NOVA’s staff and our parish community continues to support the medical care that NOVA provides.
