The Sign of the Cross
The sign of the cross is an ancient Christian prayer and blessing. It is the prayer we use to begin the day and end the day. It is a physical prayer as much as a verbal prayer. In it we give glory to the Holy Trinity, we remember our own Baptism, and we entrust ourselves to the salvation won for us by Christ's death and resurrection. This is the first prayer most parents teach their children, and it is the last prayer prayed over us when we die.
In the name of the Father (we touch our forehead)
And of the Son (we touch our abdomen)
And of the Holy Spirit (we touch our left then right shoulder)
