High school teenagers from all over the tri-state area have found community, a way to challenge themselves, and give to others through Presentation’s Youth Ministry. All are welcome! Join us for any number of events/activities. Add this page to your Favorites and check back with us often for new and updated event information. Stop by the Youth Ministry office to pick up a copy of the Program Handbook.

COMMUNITY BUILDING / SOCIAL EVENTS:
Hiking and Overnight Camping Trip– Enjoy nature? Take a walk through the beautiful Fall foliage with the Youth Ministry. Experience Christian community by helping set up camp in the breath-taking natural woodlands of our area. Meet new people and establish new relationships with teenagers in the parish community. Your choice to do either the hike, or the overnight camping, or both.

Arrival Time at Presentation: 9:30AM
Departure Time from Presentation: 10:00AM
Return Time to Presentation: (hike/day participants ONLY) 6:00PM
Return Time to Presentation: (Overnight Camping) Sunday at 11:00AM
Cost: Hike/Day participants- $10 includes snack and supplies; Overnight- $20 includes meals, snacks, and supplies
Other information: Day participants should bring appropriate outdoor clothing, suntan lotion, water bottle, bathing suit, and towel. Overnight participants should also bring pillow, sleeping bag, toiletries, sleeping clothes, and if you have any tents. Tents will be provided if you do not have one. Sunday Community Gatherings— Some come to meet new people or see old friends, others come for a spiritual boost at the beginning of their week, most come for both. A few times a month the high school youth of the parish gather together to socialize, talk about current issues, and support each other in prayer.

Great Adventure/NJ State Youth Rally*— Every year Catholic youth ministries from the New Jersey area attend Great Adventure for a day of fun and recreation. Information on this event and the registration form will be available in March 2009 from the Youth Ministry Office.

Senior Farewell— Say so long to our graduating Seniors as they reflect and share their experiences within the Youth Ministry. Date: Sunday, June 14, 2009 after the 6:30pm Mass.
PARENT & FAMILY EVENTS :
Advent and Lent Pardon & Peace— We can all use a little forgiveness in our family relationships. Twice a year our parish offers a communal reconciliation service to help families grow closer in their family relationships.

Catholicism 101 Sessions for Parents and teens— Catholicism 101 is our adult education program at the Church of the Presentation. The course consists of monthly stand-alone meetings around the major topics of our Catholic Faith. Each session is an interactive combination of discussion and lecture designed to help you learn more deeply what the Catholic faith is all about. These sessions are open to everyone, Catholic and non-Catholic, who are interested in learning about the beliefs, practices, traditions and spirituality of the Catholic tradition.

RETREATS:
Freshman/Sophomore Retreat*— This truly unique experience is lead by high school upperclassmen. During the course of a single weekend, teenagers in their first or second year of high school are exposed to a first-hand sense of “belonging” and building stronger relationships with those in their parish community. It is a fun and faith-filled recreational experience.
Date: October 24-26, 2008.

Antioch Retreat*— is a fun, high energy, and spiritually rewarding three-day overnight for young people in grades 9-12. This extremely popular (over 200 teen and young adult leaders from over 20 different towns) and unique experience is difficult to explain and simply must be experienced!!
Date: February 6-8, 2009.
Living Stations of the Cross— Re-live the final hours of Jesus’ life as the Youth Ministry re-enacts the Stations of the Cross with acting, singing, and contemporary prayers. Each year the Church is packed with over 1000 people to experience this Presentation tradition led by our high school youth. No acting or singing experience necessary. Come and be a part of this life-giving and rewarding experience!
Dates: Practice – Sunday, April 5, 2009.
Retreat Day and Service – Friday, April 10, 2009.
Senior Get-Away*— is our graduation gift from the parish to Seniors graduating High School. It is a time of fun and reflection as our graduates are encouraged to examine how they feel about their accomplishments as well as the changes occurring in their lives. It provides the perfect opportunity to examine values before going to college and the work place. Destination is yet to be determined. Date: June 2009 TBD.
SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:
YouthREACH: Hope for the Homeless* — Our first of two service days this year. Serve the homeless and see what you can do to help stop homelessness.

Mardi Gras Festival— You create the festive and fun atmosphere for our “FAT TUESDAY” party for the children of our parish. Full of activities, crafts, and sing-alongs that you plan and run, children and their parents will learn more about the life of Jesus and how we can model ourselves to live as his disciples. Planning will begin in January, 2009. The Festival will be on Tuesday, February 24, 2009in the afternoon/early evening. Contact the Youth Ministry Office for more details.
Outreach-Relay for Life* - Join us for a day of outreach, reflection and fundraising for American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. Our Youth Ministry is hoping to build a team to participate in the Glen Rock High School location. May 2009. Date TBD.
Mexico Service Experience— Teenagers going into their Junior year of high school to Freshman year of college in the Fall 2008, are invited to experience the realities of Third World poverty in this week-long summer immersion experience. Participants benefit from the multi-faceted aspects this program offers that include building a concrete house for a Mexican family, experiencing foreign culture, learning why Our Faith calls us to service, participating in ecumenism, and the Joys and challenges of living in community.
Dates: Summer 2009.
In January 2009, teenagers registered in Youth Ministry will receive a letter indicating the date of the Mexico Service Experience orientation session that will explain the experience and the application process. Application forms will be available at this orientation.
