An overview of the process.
Fr. Bob's August 18, 2008 Letter
Q: What is the purpose of the Share Your Dream Assembly?
A: The Share the Dream process has been aimed at discerning God’s will for Presentation Church in the future through the ideas of its members. During the Call to Discover sessions (Phase II) held this past fall, participating parishioners helped define the six major topics that will be the subject of the Phase III Call to Dream Parish Assembly in March. Parishioners will be provided with overviews of these six topics in advance of the Assembly to enable parishioners to prayerfully reflect on the topics and bring forward specific ideas on each topic to the Assembly.
Q: What are the six topic areas that will be the
subject of the Assembly?
(Click on the highlighted area for a write-up on that topic)
A: Each three hour session will begin in church with introductory remarks and prayer to be followed by two one hour break-out segments. At each break-out, parishioners can choose to participate in discussions involving one of the six topics (therefore allowing each parishioner to participate in discussions of two topics at each Assembly session). Following the break-out sessions we will once again gather in church for closing comments and prayer.
Q: How many topic-specific break-outs can I attend?
A: At each of the three Assembly sessions (Friday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon) each parishioner will have an opportunity to attend two topic-specific break-outs. Although each Assembly session (Friday – Sunday) will be the same, parishioners may, if they wish attend two topic-specific break-outs each day. By attending all three sessions there would be an opportunity to participate in break-outs for all six topics.
A: In order to plan accordingly for the Assembly it is imperative that parishioners register for one or more of the sessions (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and for up to two of the six topic-specific break-outs per session.
Q: How do parishioners register and get more information about the Assembly sessions?
WHEN REGISTERING, PLEASE LEAVE YOUR NAME, PHONE NO., WHICH ASSEMBLY YOU PLAN TO ATTEND (Fri eve, Sat morning, or Sunday afternoon), AND WHICH TOPIC-SPECIFIC BREAKOUTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND (maximum of two per Assembly session). IF YOU ARE REGISTERING FOR EITHER SATURDAY OR SUNDAY MORNING, PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU NEED BABYSITTING (& FOR HOW MANY CHILDREN). Babysitting is not available on Friday evening.
A: Sub-teams made up of members of the Parish Council & the Share the Dream committee, staff members and other parishioners are currently being formed for each of the six Assembly topics to prayerfully discern the specific suggestions made at the Assembly for each topic and to propose to Fr Bob, the Parish Council and pastoral staff a plan for implementation. This will constitute Phase IV of the process referred to as Call to Design.
A: The plan is for Fr Bob to report back to the parish at all the masses on the weekend after the Assembly providing an overview of the suggestions presented for each of the six topics. The topic-specific sub-teams will continue to deliberate in the weeks after the Assembly in order to consider all suggestions for a given topic and develop a plan for implementation identifying the resources needed (time, number of people and cost if any). As was done throughout the Share the Dream process we are committed to keeping the parish totally aware of the progress – to update the parish on how we are striving to make the dreams a reality (Phase V Call to Celebrate and Communicate).
