The Parish Council met on April 30, 2007 and the following topics were discussed:
(1) Sunday Liturgy - Pete Denio, Director of Worship attended this segment of the meeting to address recommendations proposed by Kay Furlani that included making the Prayer of the Faithful more universal. Pete indicated that he will be forming a Liturgy Committee in the fall that can address such recommendations.
2) Letter-Writing Campaign - the next campaign is scheduled for June 23-24 and will focus on the US Farm bill. Kay Furlani will provide more information at the next meeting.
3) “Getting Our House in Order” Fund – A subcommittee of the council lead by Wally Kennedy has been meeting to discuss ways of paying for the extensive repairs to the church facility (including a new roof, work on the parking lot, & replacement of the antiquated HVAC system in the hallways). The subcommittee recommended a parish-wide letter appeal to help defray the costs involved.
4) Planning Days – Fr Bob indicated that the pastoral team will spend May 21 & 22 on retreat focusing on the future direction for the parish. Council members were asked to provide input to Fr Bob for consideration.
5) Pastor Updates – Fr Bob provided brief updates on:
a) Volunteer Appreciation Night that was well attended and successful
b) Holy Week & Easter
c) 3 Year Formation Program under development where common themes, e.g. Experiences of Faith, will hopefully link all programs and ministries during the various church seasons.
d) Archbishop’s Annual Appeal – currently stands at $124,000 exceeding our parish target of $100,000.
Due to the Pastoral Team retreat on May 21-22, the scheduled Council meeting in May will be postponed. The next meeting will be Monday June 18th at 7:30PM (instead of June 25).
