The Parish Council met on June 18, 2007 and the following topics were discussed:

1) Family Faith Formation Program – Maura Roem attended this segment of the meeting since two council members had requested a discussion of the feedback to the program which represents a major paradigm shift for religious education of our children. Maura provided a handout summarizing the 2007-2008 program that has been modified to reflect feedback and suggestions from the first year participants. The initial year of the program was well received by the vast majority of young families. Approximately 200 families have already signed up for next year’s program. While there are families that would still want the traditional religious ed program, developing the Family Faith Formation program is clearly labor intensive from a staff perspective precluding the ability to also offer an alternative traditional program. Arrangements have been made with Guardian Angel and St Luke’s for families from Presentation who would still prefer having their children participate in the more traditional program.

2) Co-Chair Vote – The council will vote on a co-chair to serve with Rick Moore. The co-chair will assume the Chairperson role when Rick’s term expires in June 2008

3)  Maintenance Projects – Bill Brown was acknowledged for his excellent effort in acting as project manager for all the needed repairs. Bill reported that the work on the roof, parking lot and HVAC system in the office area is virtually complete and will come in slightly below budget (~ $400 K).

4) Get Our House in Order Update - Fr. Bob indicated that the response to date has been very favorable (as of 6/18, 649 donors had pledged ~ $390 K, off-setting the entire cost of the repairs to the facility).

5)   Finance Council Update – Rosemary Ervin discussed the 2007-2008 budget which will be forwarded to the Archdiocese by the end of June. Fr. Bob added that he will provide a written “state of the parish” update in October which will be provided to all parishioners.

6)   Fr. Bob also provided brief updates on the following:

a)      Stewardship Group – this group will be asked to advise Fr. Bob on the distribution of the Outreach monies in the budget.

b)      Calypso Night – is slated for Friday July 13 offering food, drink and music.

c)      400 Club – The cost will be $120 per person with a monthly raffle for $2000.

d)      Staff Planning Days – Fr. Bob will forward his notes from the May 21-22 retreat.

e)      Computer Upgrades – 10 Dell computers have been purchased for the parish.

f)        “Coffee and will be available on the lawn between the church and auditorium after the Sunday morning masses in July, and “wine and cheese” will be available after the Saturday evening Masses.

g)      Postpartum Depression – The Archdiocese will be offering a program concerning this medical problem. Members of the Elizabeth Ministry will attend a meeting in Newark to introduce the program.
